Most of our products use the biggest wear layer (the top layer of wood flooring exposed to the traffic) in the industry - 5/8” solid wood. UMGC Floors parquet products are available in full 3/4" or 5/8" solid wood thickness. Other manufacturers use 5/16” or as thin as 1/16" veneers glued to a plywood backer.
The thickness of the wear layer can significantly affect durability of the floor. When the finish wears out, you only have one sanding cycle at best. We are making floors that will withstand normal household traffic for many years. UMGC Floors uses precise CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routing machines to cut the wood. This method eliminates typical for laser-cut process burned wood edges, allows for a perfect fit of the wood pieces in the inlay.
Our products are hand-assembled by individuals who have mastered the craftsmanship of woodworking using proprietary glue, specially designed tools and technologies.
